Online Teacher or Web Enhanced Instructor??
My goal to be an online educator has changed through the course of this experience. I had thought that this would be a great way to grow and that idea hasn’t changed, but I believe I’m not there yet in my development. I am not organized enough. Neither is my master teacher (in my opinion). I am so like her in many ways that I can see how frustrating is would be for my students if I’m late in putting up the assignments, late in grading, late in responding, etc. I want to be more than that. I don’t have the time to commit to these types of courses at this moment. I can see it in the future – after my kids have grown. I’ll be prepared to take this on when the time comes.
In the immediate future, I have come to the conclusion that the Web Enhanced classroom is where I’m headed. I want to take advantage of all the great resources that are available thanks to Web 2.0. My biggest obstacle is time – as always. Exploring and coming up with quality projects and assignments takes a lot of time. My firm goal for the next year is to explore my “Resources” tag in my Delicious account. I will explore at least one source per week (there are over 135 with this tag right now…) and decide to keep or discard and then further tag with useful tags. I want to incorporate more web activities and create a culture of acceptance and excitement about online learning. I want students to accept and embrace Web 2.0 as a valued asset in the learning process. I plan to use the Web 2.0 tools to extend the learning that students do and make their learning of Spanish more useful and relevant.
